Holly Carter at Temperance

Sunday 2nd November 2025

What a wonderful and insightful performance by Holly at Temperance. I really enjoyed how she engaged with the audience and gave information and insight to her songs, giving the listener's knowledge about people and subjects that are close to Hollys heart which I’m sure would also be the same to many members of the audience attending if not all, I know I identified to ADHD and its late diagnosis, Something I and Hollie share in common and talked about between and after the sets.

Musically Hollie was technically brilliant and her songs and guitar playing were beautiful and a delight to listen to. Joe Wilkins accompanying his fiancé on guitar and for give me The Double base players name which as escaped my memory were brilliant and added to what alone would have been a brilliant set.

It was a treat to have Joe, opening up for Holly with Three Instrumental pieces that I loved so much and felt in a very unique way that my brain interpreted his playing as Van Gogh style in sound, resulting in a painting very different than I would normally create, I loved It, so did Joe, Whom I got on very well with and chatted in depth after the event about music and art, amongst other subjects.

Hollie and I chatted about her art and music prior to her playing and It influenced the style I choose to paint in focusing on painting in black line and limited colour pallet, inspired by her Orange guitar my own favourite colour. The art work simplistic elements focus on her playing as she is a master in explaining her songs, as I have written and I felt my painting did not need to include what was already so well explained so well.

A great night of music, Thankyou Holly and Joe for purchasing my paintings, the great conversations and I look forward to hear you play again soon and talk more.

Burning Rope playing at Temperance

Saturday 1st November

It was a great night of music from Burning rope Paul Long and band such a wide selection of songs and each were very much explained in how they came about and as expected with the loss of Matt Long in 2024, Pauls Son in 2024, very emotional at times. Music, creativity and community remind us that the importance in life is to connect and share and celebrate each other, with one another.

It was a slight mission for me to create on the night has I had forgotten my glasses originally, resulting in a trek home to ensure I could include some details that I managed to do just two songs before Burning Rope had complete their second and final set.

I love the blues community and friendships I have created within it and continue to do so, a true family I love.
